Southampton, United Kingdom The Supply Room Full time

**Teaching Assistant**

A secondary school based in the Harefield area of Southampton, Hampshire is currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join their team. Applicants will need to have a minimum of 3 months’ experience working with young people in an education setting or working with people with special education needs. Experience with Autism (ASD) is particularly desirable.

The hours are 08:30 - 15:30 Monday-Friday, term time only. The pay for this position is £75-£85 per day, paid weekly on a PAYE scheme. This position will be to start in January 2024 following a successful trial day.

The school currently has nearly 850 pupils attending, with around 50 of these pupils being on an Education and Health Care Plan. An EHCP would include educational provisions that need to be made to assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum. Schools receive additional funding based on the number of pupils they enrol with additional needs, and this is used to invest in additional staffing and resources to increase the outcomes for their most vulnerable students.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting these students in the classroom so they are able to maintain the pace of learning that the curriculum requires. You may also be working on a 1:1 basis with the students, if they require this additional support. Some students may have a diagnosis of Autism, Dyslexia, or ADHD, and some may have a reading age that is significantly below what would be expected of a person their age. As there will be a range of needs displayed across these students, you will need to be adaptable and flexible in your approach to this role.

**Person Specification**
- A minimum of 3 months’ experience supporting children or vulnerable adults (within or outside of education)
- A flexible, supportive, and adaptable mindset
- GCSE Grades A*-C (4-9) in Maths and English

If interested in this position, send us your CV via this page, and one of our consultants will contact you If you’d like to hear more about this, or other vacancies, give us a call on 01202 800570.
- The Supply Room is an equal opportunities employer that is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ which includes obtaining 2 references and as this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a satisfactory enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (full guidance provided)._
