We are looking for a competent CNC Operator/Programmer to use our XYZ 3 axis Milling Machine as well as our XYZ Lathe safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. Your job is important since some materials are not easy to shape or handle manually or with conventional equipment.

To be successful you need to be highly skilled professionals, able to work with great concentration and precision. You must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential. Apprenticeship qualification or equivalent is essential, as is at least 5 years of experience in CAD/CAM production facilities. It is desirable that CNC programmers should have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or a certificate in CNC programming from a technical college.

The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials by programming machines to perform the right operations. Translating Designs into production manufacture as well as producing prototypes from 2D or Sketched Drawings. Using their skills to assist our Engineers in developing the best possible solutions for our Vertical Farms.

Work Environment

Much of the engineer's workday is split between the manufacturing floor, where the CNC machines are programmed and serviced, and an office environment where data records are kept and preparatory duties are undertaken. You should be able-bodied, as the job may include extended periods of sitting, standing, stooping and walking. In addition, manufacturing floors can be dangerous, loud and rife with physical obstacles. You will likely work 40-hour weeks, and in some occasions work extended hours to meet deadlines.

You are expected to be able to identify tools and liaise with tool suppliers' orders and to create job cards including specifications on the tools, machine setup, speeds used to achieve the best possible balance between quality and process time.

**Responsibilities**:
Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.

Fitting appropriate tools to operate the CNC machine.

Performing proper setup and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories.

Setting tolerances and cutting speeds.

Translating the requirements detailed part drawings into programs and measurements for production.

Inspecting parts and workflow to ensure that technical and quality standards are met.

3D CAD design knowledge and ability to translate a sketch into a 3D drawing is essential.

Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.

Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications

Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate a large number of parts.

Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.

Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

Requirements and skills

Proven experience as CNC operator.

3D CAD Skills required.

Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.

Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.

A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.

Good communication abilities.

Certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus.

Successfully completed apprenticeship is a requirement.

**Salary**: £44,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
