ACS International Schools is looking for a one-to-one Teaching Assistant to join the team at ACS International Schools, within our Egham campus.

The Teaching Assistant (TA) will provide one to one support on a full-time basis to one student within Middle School/KS3.

The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the SEND Student Services Department and be guided by their instructions. This role is to support the student by promoting and reinforcing their self-esteem and encouraging the student to maximise their achievement and development.

**Key responsibilities**:

- To undertake activities with the student to facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development within a safe environment, under the supervision of a classroom teacher
- Attend classes with the student and support their learning within the classroom environment
- Plan and prepare lessons in collaboration with Classroom teacher and SEND Student Services Department Specialists, including evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans
- Develop and prepare resources for learning activities in accordance with lesson plans and in response to student needs
- Motivate and progress student’s learning by using clearly structured, interesting teaching and learning activities
- Promote and support student inclusion with learning activities within the classroom
- Be aware of and support differences, ensuring all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Support the student to gain independence, allowing them to achieve their academic potential
- Assist in maintaining good discipline of student throughout the school day. To accompany and supervise student on planned educational visits and journeys
- Recognise and challenge any unacceptable behaviours, including but not exclusive to incidents of abuse with equal opportunities. To ensure students’ compliance with relevant School policies and procedures to ensure the individual/s involved understand expectations
- Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, SEND Department Head.

**Knowledge and skills required**:

- GCSE (A-C), NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in numeracy & literacy.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) for supporting and teaching & learning in school

**Desired qualifications**:

- NVQ or similar for working with a child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- NVQ or similar for working with a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Experience of supporting children with difficulties in reading, writing and interaction with others.
- Proven ability to be proactive, approachable, empathetic, organised, highly visible and confident, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in teams in a variety of circumstances, and to accept change with flexibility.

**Desired experience**:

- Experience working alongside specialist therapists, including Speech, Language and Occupational
- Knowledge of adolescent concerns and current information sources.
- Previous experience of working with a child with ADHD & ASD.

This is term time only, Monday
- Friday.
