- Blackgrange is a key site within the Scotch spirit supply chain. The site consists of warehousing, disgorging for malt and grain spirits. It is a very busy site, taking spirit in cask from the filling stores and supplying whisky to packaging, and third parties and operates all year round. Blackgrange warehousing consists of traditional, rack and pallet cask operations and the site will see significant investment in additional modern warehousing.
- Blackgrange’s sister site Bonnybridge, located 12 miles away is a whisky warehousing operation and works closely with Blackgrange.
- About this role

This site based Business Leader (BL) role at Blackgrange is a part of the site management team, reporting to the Operations Manager. This is an exciting and challenging role supporting locally the delivery of the Scotch category strategy, responsible for 2 maturation sites, Blackgrange and Bonnybridge.
- Working along with the other business leaders and performance improvement leads, you will be responsible for maturation operations with approx. 18+ direct reports of operators and senior operators. You will have full governance compliance responsibility for both sites and full operations responsibility of Bonnybridge.
- As the BL, you’ll provide outstanding leadership through delivering outstanding results and setting clear strategic direction to your operational area to RUN the business. You will be spending a significant amount of time on the ground engaging, motivating, encouraging your team to deliver World Class performance (50-60% time on the shop floor). You will be responsible for creating an environment that supports an inclusive and positive culture, where people feel they are listened to, valued and developed.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and advocating good governance to ensure that all health, safety and environment, HMRC, quality, cost and reliability standards are met.-
- Embeding a strong Tier 1, feeding into Tier 2, leading and motivating the team to take accountability in all aspects of the balanced scorecard and morale, monitoring and optimising process operations where possible.-
- Leading the MMS Programme to develop performance, standards, capabilities and asset care to exceed balanced scorecard targets. Setting & achieving MMS departmental deployment plan working in partnership with the Performance Improvement Leader.-
- Coaching the team providing guidance and support to all direct reports and their teams, to facilitate achievement of department targets and successful delivery of continuous improvement projects.-
- Leading the high level of day to day complexities in a complex and busy operational environment to deliver high quality products in a safe manner to plan.-
- Being responsible for the delivery of key capex projects within the maturation.-
- Having duty management responsibility 3-4 weekends a year.-
- Supporting other sites within maturation when/if necessary.- To be successful in this role, you will need:
