We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Team Leader to work in our Products Warehouse at our Hexthorpe site.

Working hours are predominantly 6.00-14.00 but there is a requirement and expectation to be available to work any shift between 06.00 - 18.30

The role of Team Leader is the first management grade line within UR Logistics service delivery. It requires the incumbent to have a detailed knowledge of Customer Service, Warehousing and Distribution process and practice to drive forward Customer Engagement, Operational Excellence, Employee Engagement and Continuous Improvement. Team Leaders are dynamic thinkers who lead and mentor Customer Process Leaders and champion the UW culture within our operations.

Team Leaders are site-wide assets who report directly to the Operations Manager under various Unipart Rail Contracts, Internal or External. Team Leaders are required to be flexible to work in all areas as necessary. Occasional travel may be required to support the Operation.

The role has responsibility for the Operation-level planning and execution of shift performance, along with delivering high levels of Customer Service, Stock Management and Stock Accuracy. Under the overarching direction of the Logistics Leadership team, they will determine how the shift will run each day in conjunction with process-level planning undertaken by the Customer Process Leaders. They will understand the freedoms and constraints which impact upon service delivery as a whole and collaboratively work to balance requirements to secure success. Team Leaders will oversee daily activities of the Customer Process Leaders and supporting teams to ensure the delivery of core outputs, mandatory audit activities and continuous improvement work strands. They will assume ownership of the WMS and stock placement strategies to support Quality processes and maximum efficiency. They will be required to attend Customer meetings where required, in support of the Operations Manager and/or Contract Manager. Management Of People & Advisory The role has responsibility for the leadership, coaching and mentoring of a team of Customer Process Leaders and will manage wider shift planning activity. Team Leaders monitor, mitigate and control planned and unplanned absence to ensure that resources are available at the right place and the right time. Communication and leading by example is key. They will conduct investigations for any non-conformance / disciplinary issues in conjunction with HR representation. Any issues raised to them, both professional and personal, should be dealt with at the lowest level and, if not possible, escalated to the Logistics Leadership Team. Key Relationships.

Team Leaders are proactive, data-driven leaders who embody the UW and challenge the status quo.. They need to consider inter-dependencies and 2nd order effects of their actions or omissions at an operational level. The role requires processes to be driven through strong leadership and understanding of people and supply chain activities. Guidance will be given by the Logistics Leadership team on overarching objectives, but the Team Leader owns the direct performance of operational service delivery. Every day will be planned but the plan may change, so the ability to work effectively within ambiguity is crucial.

The role is diverse and will require the incumbent to have mastered each process path so they can lead with confidence. A sound grasp of UW tools and systems is required to build continuous improvement into BAU. Developed leadership skills to champion best practice and act as a coach and mentor to the Customer Process Leads is central to delivery across all operational pathways (Stock, Quality, Engagement, etc. High levels of initiative and drive are required and the role must be comfortable working with, analyzing and presenting data, whilst questioning its accuracy, relevance and exploitation.
