**About the role**

Alzheimer’s Society are proud to have a small, passionate and diverse team in the South Gloucestershire area with a welcoming and supportive culture. This role is a pivotal one in our 5 Year, Help and Hope Strategy. The Dementia Adviser role provides a vital and compassionate advice service to support and guide people affected by a diagnosis of dementia. We deliver advice and support tailored to the individual based on the level of complexity and need within a ‘step up and step down’ model.

Dementia Advisers provide knowledgeable and trusted information regarding services and benefits available and, where appropriate, assist clients in accessing them. This role understands when to signpost clients to a choice of suitable other sources of help, where appropriate. This is a vital role in the organisation being proactive approach in reaching people with dementia and carers who may not otherwise access our services.

**About you**

Ideally, you will already have had experience of working within an advice and guidance capacity, supporting people on a one-to-one basis, working with them to complete an assessment of their needs, identifying what is important to them and then supporting them to meet those needs.

What we are asking for from you:

- The willingness and determination to provide advice and guidance which is tailored to each person.
- The skill to be able to deliver advice and guidance with a non-judgmental approach and be a confident communicator.
- Good organisational and time management skills to enable you to manage a caseload of clients effectively.
- Excellent IT skills including experience of using Microsoft programmes (Word/Excel), online diary programmes and customer data management systems.
- An understanding of how dementia can impact on individuals would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting people in another capacity with life challenges this would be taken into consideration.
