There are currently 18 schools within Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust, three secondary, 14 primary schools and a new SEHM which opened in September.

Your main place of work will be Holsworthy Community College, but you may be required to work across all the schools within The Dartmoor Multi-Academy Trust at any time as directed by the Executive Team.

This job description is not a comprehensive definition of the post. Discussions will take place on a regular basis to clarify individual responsibilities within the general framework and character of the post as identified below.     The role may require travel to Trust educational settings and offices.

**Job Purpose**:
To work under guidance to provide support in identifying and addressing the early help needs of pupils in terms of behaviour, safety, safeguarding and Child Protection, to overcome barriers to learning.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
To work under guidance to support students by:
In collaboration with other staff, identify students and families who would benefit from a strategic or multi agency approach to meeting needs.

Engaging with parents and student, gaining parental consent, and putting their details onto Rights for Children.

Liaising with college staff and external professionals to support families to identify an appropriate lead professional.

Organise Team Around the Family meetings, including setting dates, inviting appropriate people, and where appropriate, lead and/or contribute to the Team Around the Family meeting.

Collating information on students and producing reports for meetings, sharing outcomes, and ensuring that action points are completed.

Support students using an Attachment Based Mentoring approach, mentoring, and supporting in class as appropriate.

Supporting the safeguarding of students within the college by acting as a Child Protection Officer; reading and responding to CPOMS logs, supporting students with child protection concerns, recording accurately, and acting in a timely manner.

Providing strategies for early intervention with students and families to include internal and external support mechanisms and signposting to other agencies.

Support the teaching and learning in the college by:
Liaising with feeder schools and other relevant bodies to gather pupil information.

Monitoring and evaluating pupils' progress against action plans through planned recording.

Providing objective and accurate feedback and report as required, to other staff and external agencies on pupils' achievement, progress, and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.

Being responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with other staff, contributing to reviews of systems/records as requested.

Assisting in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies, including the Ready to Learn system or any equivalents.

Establishing constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child's attendance, access and learning and supporting home to school and community links.

Assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of systems relating to attendance and integration.

Providing clerical/administrative support including dealing with correspondence, ensuring record keeping is in line with requirements for safeguarding, compilation/analysis/reporting on attendance, progress, behaviour, exclusions etc, making phone calls and attending meetings to present reports and discuss the safety of students.

Observing and supporting students' access to learning in class where directed.

Any other roles and duties required or directed to support the successful inclusion and access to learning for all students.

**Supporting pupils by**:
Providing pastoral support to pupils.

Developing 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and providing support for distressed pupils.

Participating in comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help.

Assisting teachers with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans.

Supporting provision for pupils with additional needs.

Establishing productive working relationships with pupils and acting as a role model.

Promoting the speedy/effective transfer/integration of pupils across phases or on return from absence.

Providing information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance.

Challenging and motivation pupils, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem.

Enabling students to assess their own levels of risk.

Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance etc.

Attending to pupils' personal needs and providing advice to assist in their social, health and hygiene development.

Receiving and supervising pupils excluded from or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable.
