**About us**

Avencia Consulting are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialty Insurer based in the City, who are looking to hire an IT SOX Compliance Analyst to join on a contract basis.
The Company currently writes lines of business including; speciality insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other speciality; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, speciality reinsurance,whole account/multi-class.

**The role**

The SOX Compliance Analyst will be responsible for identifying and assisting in documenting existing IT and Finance controls, implementing and documenting new internal controls, and assisting in maturing approach to the control based audits. The positionwill have a key role in assessing the company's compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

**Key accountabilities**
- Lead end to end walkthroughs to identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Improve SOX documentation and work papers (i.e. work with process owners to refine risk control matrix, improve process flows, refine / develop test procedures, propose control language and associated risks etc.)
- Assist in evaluation of new processes, policies and systems to determine relevance to and impact on the SOX program, including assessing design of controls based on identified risks

**Skills & experience**
- Must have SOX compliance experience
- Comprehension of internal auditing standards, Sarbanes-Oxley and risk-assessment practices.
- Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance required
- Technical auditing skills and corporate-level audit experience required
- 5+ years of experience in SOX/internal audit preferred, of which at least 3 years of SOX experience required
- Chartered Accountant/CPA/CIA/CISA certification preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- The ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems, while escalating issues appropriately
- Strong team working skills inspiring trust and acting as a catalyst for change and success
