Mentor

As a Mentor at First Class Foundation, you will play a crucial role in empowering and supporting young individuals aged 13-25, with a particular focus on addressing the overrepresentation and underrepresentation of BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) young individuals in key sectors. You will establish meaningful relationships with mentees, serve as a positive role model and advocate, and guide them towards realising their full potential and achieving their goals.

**Mentor Job Description**

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish a supportive and trusting relationship with assigned mentees, serving as a positive role model and advocate.
- Assist mentees in identifying their strengths, passions, and goals, helping them connect with their purpose and potential.
- Provide guidance and support in exploring various opportunities within the designated pillars, including mental health, criminal justice, education, etc.
- Help mentees develop critical life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and goal-setting.
- Encourage mentees to take advantage of educational resources, training programs, and networking opportunities relevant to their interests.
- Assist mentees in navigating challenges and obstacles they may face in pursuing their chosen paths.
- Collaborate with other mentors and program staff to ensure comprehensive support and guidance for mentees.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of mentorship sessions, progress, and outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance mentorship skills and stay informed about relevant resources and trends.
- Uphold the values and mission of First Class Foundation, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all mentoring activities.

Qualifications:

- Passion for empowering and supporting young people aged 13-25, with a particular focus on addressing the over representation and under representation of BAME young individuals in key sectors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish a trusting relationship with mentees.
- Strong listening skills, empathy, and the ability to provide non-judgmental guidance and support.
- Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following pillars: Family, Criminal Justice, Politics, Education, Business and Enterprise, and Health.
- Patience, adaptability, and the ability to motivate and inspire mentees.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of mentees.
- Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and other mentors.
- Reliable and responsible with time management skills to fulfill mentoring commitments.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £12.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Aston, West Midlands: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
