We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join our Smiths Detection (Part of the Smiths Group) planning team who are responsible for implementing effective supply chain methodologies and process across our Hemel Hempstead site.

Working closely with the Global Service Supply Chain Manager this o will provide you the opportunity to identify short to long term Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) risks and opportunities, optimising the supply network and inventory, reduction in cost to serve are all integral elements of this role.

This specific opportunity is fundamental to customer support and uptime within the aftermarket. As part of this global customer focus, the business is investing in supply chain analytics to provide the Industry’s finest customer support.

It will be important that you ensure service continuity is paramount, minimising supply chain risk and incremental costs by working closely with the senior operations and service teams.

To drive supply chain transformation and operation excellence using latest supply chain technologies incorporating but not limited to process automation, dashboards powered by SAP Analytics and the use of other forecasting and replenishment software.

We are looking for you to have the ability to identify potential problems, express solutions with clarity, extensive knowledge of effective supply chain methodologies, data management, and reporting techniques. It will also be key for you to have a proven ability in leading stakeholders through change, therefore, you will need a natural communicative style and an appetite to drive a high-performance culture is critical to achieving success.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of all parameters, factors, inputs, and outputs required to develop effective supply plans and drive standard methodology and process improvements.
- Working with the Sales and Operations teams be the interface to translate market/regional requirements to product/sourcing site execution.
- Provide accurate and timely information to the Planning team to enable communication to regional teams on supply constraints etc.
- Good knowledge of Supply Chain processes including demand, supply & inventory management. Experience dealing with this during a time of regulatory, legislative or industry changes would be an advantage.
- Cross-functional support, coordination and alignment of all supply chain related requirements through communication and collaboration with all impacted functions.

The Individual
- Experience of working in a high-pressure, fast-paced aftermarket (materials) planning environment with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. CIPS (desirable)
- Strong analytical, organisational, decision-making and presentation skills are essential.
- Accurate and timely reporting is required to identify and quantify potential risks to service
- Have the courage to succeed, challenge and lead, including strong influencing skills is essential to effectively drive performance across the teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with effective influencing and interpersonal skills.
