We are looking to recruit a Buyer to join our team at Sparrows in Aberdeen.

The main purpose of the role is to evaluate materials and service requests and undertake purchasing activities in accordance with company procedures and processes.

Main responsibilities
- Undertake purchasing activities for allocated purchasing commodities.
- Liaise and communicate with internal and external agencies for requirement specifications, lead times, RFQs, approvals, and deliveries.
- Ensure all purchase requisitions and orders are processed in accordance with company’s approval authority and procedures.
- Liaise and coordinate with vendors and other parties for pricing, delivery and invoice deficiencies and achieve corrective actions.
- Manage vendors performance activities for vendors attached to allocated purchasing commodities.
- Assist and guide team members and other people in the company to achieve compliance for purchasing activities.
- Stand-in for other team members duties when requested.
- Undertake necessary expediting activities, and update and maintain correct and latest information in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) system.

HSEQ responsibilities
- It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
- The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience
- Previous experience of purchasing activities and vendors management
- Good knowledge of basic purchasing techniques
- Experience and understanding of ERP systems
- College degree or equivalent work experience
- Ability to act proactively and prioritise work with limited supervision
- Good IT skills in MS Excel, Word and Power Point
