Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Surveyor to join our Technical Department. The AHK Technical Department provides comprehensive, professional and multi-disciplinary expertise to strategically develop, lead and provide operational support for AHK’s global inspection business in the mining, mineral and metals industries. This includes; sample preparation, weighing, sampling and moisture determination (SP-WSMD), FMP-TML, draught surveys, stockpile inventory, radioactivity surveys, audits, due diligence, mineral processing, mineralogy, geology, conflict minerals, fraud, adulteration and substitution investigations and consultancy.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Operational and Commercial Inspection**: Provide professional advice and practicable guidance for all aspects of field inspection involving WSMD, for base metal concentrates, precious metals, minor metals. Carrying out inspection and supervision at AHK facilities across the group. Support the Project manager for ‘Special Projects’ and internal auditing of AHK inspection and sample prep facilities in the UK and internationally.
- **Auditing, Compliance and Standards**: Collaborate and enforce compliance with international standards and best practice, where they exist. Collaborate with the implementation of an international audit programme to critically evaluate the performance and competency of inspectors, resources and provide support and corrective actions when necessary. Ensure and maintain Corrective Action Plans (CAP) with the local offices assigned.
- **International Enquiries and Mitigation of Technical Risks**: When possible, respond to international technical enquiries.
- **Special Projects, Research and Development**: Support and collaborate with ‘Special Projects’, fulfilling the tasks assigned, and ensuring to meet the target dates allocated.
- **Conferences, Workshops and Event**: Represent the Technical Department at relevant conferences and industry events, including presentations and where appropriate publications.
- **Health & Safety**: Enforce AHK H&S policy at all times when working in the office, laboratory or in the field in collaboration with the H&S Department**.**

**Required Work Experience**
- At least 2-3 years relevant international experience in the mining, mineral and metals industry
- Experienced in dealing with sensitive, controversial and complex matters, which require negotiation and diplomacy
- Evidence based approach to problem solving.
- Quality / auditing knowledge

**Required Qualifications**
- Relevant academic (e.g. BSc, MSc) or equivalent industry qualifications
- Professional qualifications are preferable
- Member of a relevant and recognised professional organisation o
