Duties will include:

- To operate a planned system of general maintenance and repairs.
- To ensure a smooth running of all plant machinery and equipment, including all electrical, gas, oil, and water installations.
- To advise management on all matters relating to plant machinery and equipment including safety, state of repair and the necessary purchase of new equipment.
- To liaise with external contractors on work required beyond the scope of general maintenance. Report and advise the Manager.
- To obtain maximum economical efficiency from all plant and equipment. Advise on the control of temperature and the conservation of energy.
- To keep records as required and carry out relevant administration.
- To ensure all equipment and chemicals are handled correctly and are secure in a locked away from staff and service users.
- To ensure all tools are available, in good repair, and accounted for at all times.
- To carry out weekly checks on fire alarms.
- To prepare contingency plans in the event of a power failure and organize emergency lamps in such an event.
- To assist in emergency evacuations and fire drills.
- To be available for emergency call-out.
- To carry out decorating and re-decorating as necessary and as directed by the Manager.
- To clean lamp shades and electrical fittings and replace light bulbs and tubes promptly.
- To assist in the extermination of pests and rodents.
- To assist in the training of all nursing staff, particularly in fire prevention, use of extinguishers, manual winding of lifts, use of electrical equipment and the driving of the Company's vehicle / bus.
- To ensure that the grounds are well maintained and that all approaches to the home are accessible, neat, tidy, and clear of any hazards.
- In the absence of a gardener, cut grass and hedges.
- To attend statutory training and staff meetings.
- To secure service users and Company's property and premises.
- To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages, or hazards.
- To carry out other duties as will, from time to time, be directed.
- To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard for the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, service users and other persons within the home.
- To adhere to Infection control policy.

**Salary**: £11.50-£12.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
