The role provides a welcoming front of house meet and greet service to patients, their family members and carers who require cancer information and support within the Harrogate and rural district.

The post holder will be based at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre at Harrogate District Hospital but will work across other key areas in the hospital and occasionally in the community.

The post holder will provide high quality information in different formats and refer to other supportive services within the hospital and third sector organisation's in the community.

The post holder will work within the Information and Support, Health and Wellbeing team and the wider cancer services workforce. There will be many learning and development opportunities with opportunities to develop a career in cancer services.

This role will be based “front of house” in the Macmillan Cancer Information centre to triage enquiries and provide personalised information and support about cancer services.

The post holder will support people to enable them to navigate the health and social care system, signposting to appropriate specialist support services according to individual patient needs.

The post-holder will support the delivery of the National Cancer Strategy by co-ordinating and supporting referrals into several in-house support services and also a programme of patient education sessions, within the centre and also out in the community setting.

The post holder will demonstrate excellent communication skills and support patients in emotive situations. There will be with support, guidance and supervision from the Macmillan Cancer information and Support Specialist and supporting specialist teams.

General administration, scheduling, coordinating and communication will form part of the role.

We offer patients many supportive care service within secondary and primary care and we believe we offer a very good patient experience which is reflected in the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.
