Derman is a charity; well-known in its field for providing health and social care related services to the Turkish, Kurdish and Turkish Cypriot communities in Hackney.
We are currently looking for trainee counsellors to work as part of our counselling team, managed by the Mental Health Service Manager. The sessions will be provided from Derman office or GP surgeries across Hackney face to face.
Trainee counsellors must speak Turkish and English and have knowledge of the issues facing the Kurdish and Turkish communities. Speaking Kurmanci would be desirable. They must be at an advanced stage of training i.e. as a minimum they must have completed the one-year counselling foundation course (or equivalent) and commenced a Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent).
Trainee Counsellors are expected to commit to Derman’s Counselling Service for a period of at least 6 months to 1 year.
