An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with extensive audiological experience to join the Emmeline Centre, a well-established Hearing Implant Service, providing all types of hearing implants. The Emmeline Team is friendly and dedicated towards the delivery of an excellent service for all our users, as well as constantly looking at better ways to provide a service. The Centre is purpose-built, located within Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.

Main duties of the job

Job role will include working within a multidisciplinary team, undertaking assessments for cochlear implants, review of middle ear implants and bone conductive hearing devices for adults and children. You will participate in departmental projects, including staff training, audit and research.

Experience in working with complex audiological caseload, with different hearing aids fittings and all types of hearing losses. Knowledge in hearing implant systems is preferable but not essential, as training will be provided

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria

BSc Audiology and demonstrate equivalent experience.
- AHCS (used to be RCCP), HCPC registration (Hearing aid dispenser) or overseas equivalent.Desirable criteria

British Sign Language: Level 1

Counselling/coaching qualification (Introductory level)
- Training with auditory implantsExperience

Essential criteria

Clinical experience in audiology; including identification of patients requiring further specialist intervention.
- Evidence of autonomous and unsupervised working.Desirable criteria

Experience as a paediatric audiologist

Experience working with auditory implants
- Experience of contributing to research/ audit activitiesKnowledge

Essential criteria

Understands the workings of a broad range of hearing aids.

Advanced skills in behavioural testing of adult and paediatric patients.

Knowledge of other diagnostic tests such as TEN testing, speech testing and aided sound field audiometry.
- Understands the different types of hearing implants.Desirable criteria

Awareness of Deaf culture and its politics/ values relating to cochlear implantation
- Knowledge of national policies and best practices relevant to hearing implant recipients**Skills**:

Able to determine appropriate rehabilitative interventions from a range of options for complex patients with profound, sometimes multiple disabilities.

Able to communicate effectively with patients, in particular when explaining complex information about hearing loss and management options

Capable of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team

Flexible and adaptable to changing situations due to both workload and colleag
