We are seeking to recruit 2 x Apprentice Library, Information and Archive Services Assistants to work within our Library and Neighbourhood Hubs

Post 1: 37 hours per week, Central

Post 2: 37 hours per week, Communities

As an apprentice you will support our Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs sites to develop services to the public, stimulating and satisfying the needs of existing and potential users for access to information and activities in an ethical and fair or appropriate manner.

You will work with Barnsley College to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to complete the apprenticeship and gain a recognised qualification.

**Post details**:
The Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs Service operates three teams covering all sites. During the year you will work with all three teams, rotating teams every 3-4 months, so that you work at all the different sites. The teams, and the Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs they cover, are:
Central (Riverside House, Mowbray Gardens and Kimberworth)

North (Wath, Swinton, Rawmarsh, Thorpe Hesley, Greasbrough)

South (Kiveton Park, Aston, Dinnington, Wickersley, Maltby, Thurcroft)

The broad purpose of the role is to assist the public using information in all formats, including digital resources. You will organise and manage those information resources, including arranging and displaying and marketing and promoting Library resources. As an apprentice, you will provide a range of services, including basic inductions to new library users.

We always endeavour to promote the use of library resources to all, which includes delivering outreach activities and working on the library reception desk to assist library users with information enquiries, photocopier and basic IT queries, sometimes referring more complex queries to more senior members of staff.

You will also attend and take part in team meetings & regular reviews with your line manager as and when required.
