Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

Your pay_ - _our Support Workers receive a rate of £11.00 per hour for all worked hours. Once you are successful for a role with us, full details of your pay will be included in your written offer.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Cutgate - Rochdale.
- Who do you support?_
The people you will be supporting have learning disability and mental health needs. There is one gentleman that has poor mobility but is able to get around with the use of his walking aid, the people in this area have a great sense of humour and would like their staff to share this with them.
- Where do they live?_
This vacancy is based in the Cutgate area of Rochdale, supporting two males and one female who live at one of the homes we provide support to where they have their own rooms.
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
There people supported in this home enjoy going to charity shops, cinemas, going to the library, going to the local disco to meet friends and going for walks.

You would have to be able to support the person to appointments around any health issues i.e. dentist, GP or hospital visits that the person may need.

One gentleman goes to his day centre 5 days a week.

Caring and supportive outgoing and able to interact with PWS
able to support pushing a wheelchair whilst accessing the community
support with cooking, cleaning, shopping, activities
- What daily tasks to the people we support need help with?_

Daily finances and banking

Household chores including food preparation

Managing a tenancy; reporting property issues to the landlord

Accessing the community

Building social & lifestyle skills

Medication management

Health & hygiene needs

Personal care
- What is the team here or is it lone-working?_
You will be lone working but would be part of a friendly existing staff team.
- What are your shift patterns?_
We are looking for someone who can work flexible shifts which include days, nights bank holidays and weekends. The usual shift patterns are 9.30am day sleep till 9am the next morning
- Please note our Support Workers are contracted by area therefore flexibility is essential to work in other services where required._
