As a warehouse operative, you would deal with goods and products that come into a warehouse or stockroom. You do not need any specific qualifications to be a warehouse operative. Basic English, maths and IT skills would be useful and required. To become a warehouse operative, you will need to have a good level of fitness. You’ll need to be able to work quickly. And you’ll also need to complete paperwork and count stock items.

**WORK**
Your job could include:

- Picking and packing stock
- Manually handling stock
- Loading and Unloading large goods vehicles
- Maintenance warehouse clean & tidy
- Record goods/inventory
- Unpacking and storing incoming goods
- Wrapping pallets
- Helping to box and palletize items
- Help operate a machine when required
- Cleaning work areas routinely

You will be based in our food manufacturing plant.

**WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS**

You would work as a part-time worker, usually as part of a shift system. Initially covering two or three days per week, but the shifts can increase according to working performance. It is required to work during weekends. The job is divided into two shifts (morning and afternoon). The earliest morning shift can start from 6.30 am, the latest afternoon shift can finish at 8 pm. You would wear protective clothing like overalls and safety shoes, and an insulated jacket will be provided when you work in the cold store.

**ENTRY REQUIREMENTS**
You do not need any specific qualifications to be a warehouse operative, but BASIC English, math and IT skills would be useful. For some roles, you may need to have color-normal vision. A full clear driving license and forklift license will be desirable but not essential.

**SKILLS AND QUALITIES**
To become a warehouse operative, you will need to have:

- a good level of fitness
- good teamwork skills
- the ability to work quickly and well
- the ability to complete paperwork and count stock items
- basic computer skills
- an understanding of health and safety regulations
- honesty and reliability
- a willingness to work on a flexible basis

**Salary**: From £9.50 per hour
