Our client based in Aldermaston is looking to recruit a Caretaker to join their team. You will need to hold a full clean driving licence for this role. Working as a member of the Direct Manufacturing team, the role will be mainly based our client’s site in Aldermaston, although you must be flexible and able to work on both sites which are 5 minutes apart by car. You will usually work 37.5 hours a week, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. However, some longer hours may be required from time to time.

You should have mechanical aptitude, organisational and interpersonal skills. with the ability to multitask and possess the physical capability to engage in manual labour. Other requirements may include operating machinery, looking after, and driving company vehicles.
you will be required to communicate with all staff and report back on the condition of the property, including information concerning repair work and issues that affect staff wellbeing.

As the Caretaker you will have the ability to work well without close supervision and be able to complete routine tasks as well as manage a wide variety of diverse activities, working with other members of the facilities team and subcontractors as necessary.

You will be expected to work both indoors and outdoors and may spend a lot of their time on your feet, bending, lifting, and often climbing stairs or ladders. For some jobs, protective clothing is provided and must be worn, such as gloves, overalls and goggles.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance to the buildings and related equipment such as, but not restricted to: repairs to furniture, doors, locks, minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical tasks.

When machining operations allow, Sweep, clean and vacuum floors in and around the machinery and Industrial work areas at Youngs unit 2 & 3.

Emergency Clean building floors throughout the company by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them as required.

Gather and empty refuse to on-site compactor and recycling point.

Prepare meeting rooms such as setting out furniture and supporting equipment

As directed, operation and inspection of equipment for heating, hot and cold water supplies, lighting, ventilation, power, sanitary facilities, drainage and sewerage on a daily basis where required and reporting defects to the Facilities Manager.

Maintain kitchen and washroom stocks and supplies, including tea/coffee/milk, paper towels etc as necessary. Ensure adequate stocks of consumables are available in nominated cleaning stores and where necessary requests for replenishments are ordered by requisition in a timely manner.

Carry out keyholder duties when required to do so, such as unlocking and/or locking premises.

Drive company vans as required to travel between offices for work and to carry goods or items, usually locally, from time to time.

Carry out general vehicle maintenance and checks according to company policy and schedules.

Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.

Work at all times in a safe manner in compliance with the company health & safety policies.

Complete H&S and general training courses as required by the company in order to carry out tasks and work in a safe manner. Training to be provided by the company includes, but not limited to: Lifting and handling, Ladder safety, COSHH awareness, Lone Working.

Raise any H&S risks and hazards through the company reporting site

Ensure any repairs noticed are reported to the Facilities Manager

Ensure a timely response to any service shortfalls identified by the Facilities Manager.

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
