Area Ranger

This is a crucial role delivering for nature and access at one of our key sites. And as one of seven Area Rangers within the Cotswolds Countryside, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing a team of Rangers ensuring excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation work across some nationally and internationally important sites. You will also look beyond our boundaries and work with partners, tenants and stakeholders.

**Salary: £27,000 per annum**

**Contract/ Hours: Permanent /37.5 hours per week**

What you'll be doing:As the Area Ranger you will manage a small team of Rangers working like you throughout the portfolio: following the lead from the Property’s Business Plan you will build and manage an effective and flexible work programme for you and your team. You will support your fellow rangers in undertaking engagement and conservation work, contributing towards HLS (Higher Level Stewardship) targets.

You’ll also be responsible for helping with excellent communication of our conservation work to a wide range of audiences, both new and existing, through events, guided walks and engagement with local communities. You will appreciate the need for our countryside sites to bring in income, so your business ideas will play an important part in the team’s success.

Who we're looking forTo deliver this role successfully, you will need to;
- Have practical experience of countryside/rural skills including certification in chainsaw use, tractor driving and towing trailers and a full UK Driving licence.
- Have evidence of good people management and leadership, including the supervision of contractors and volunteers.
- Demonstrate a passion for nature and knowledge of systems and processes for species monitoring.
- Have excellent communication skills including negotiating and influencing.
- Have strong organisational skills including work programming.
- Be able to work safely, leading on compliance including writing risk assessments as well as safety and environmental procedures.
- Work with partners to deliver nature outcomes.

And you'll need to demonstrate the following experience on your CV/Application;
- Diploma/NVQ3 or higher, or equivalent experience, in countryside or environmental conservation.
