Its purpose is to lead the next era of media planning and buying by optimizing cross channel marketing via a new, globally consistent, intelligent performance practice and engine.
**Role Overview***:
- The Head of Data Science will lead a team of eager data scientists and work with amazing engineers and product managers to build technology that combines human and machine intelligence to tackle prediction, optimization, pricing, and other problems at scale, to make billions of dollars of media spend more effective and efficient.
You will work closely with multiple technology teams, both within the GroupM Nexus and the broader GroupM and WPP organizations, as well as technology and data providers, and major digital media partners (Xandr, Google, Amazon, etc.).
The Head of Data Science will report to the Global Head of Data and Analytics, GroupM Nexus and will ideally be based in London.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop a deep understanding of GroupM’s business and understand the drivers of success for paid media channels and the indirect impact of the broader marketing ecosystem on paid media.
- Build cutting edge solutions to solve both in-channel and cross channel performance optimization challenges.
- Standardize and productize repeatable analytics solutions for recurring business needs: media inflations studies, benchmarking, pricing grids, forecasting, budgeting, attribution, incrementality analytics, custom algorithm development, attribution models (MTA, MMM).
- Run RFIs to analyze and compare both internal and external solutions to identify the best scalable solutions to address business requirements.
- Build a global center of excellence and create opportunities for a community of peers and experts across the wider business to exchange ideas, learnings, and best-practices to advance the practice of data science.
- Contribute to papers, blogs, conferences, and other avenues to publicize team innovations and cement our company’s thought leadership on data science in our field.
- Build an offshore analytics team to provide support to the agency teams on core modelling tasks and augment the on-site capabilities.
- Recruit, mentor and manage growing team of data scientists and engage them in challenging initiatives while developing their career.
- Deploy large-scale, production machine learning systems.
- Exemplify and foster enthusiasm, curiosity, and collaboration from data scientists that is crucial to innovate at scale.
- Advocate for a point-of-view on challenging topics and build consensus through experiments, prototypes, data visualization, and other techniques for communicating with experts and non-technical audiences alike.
- Incorporate both technical and business concerns in prioritization and trade-off discussions.
- Stay current with the data science and AI landscape and innovate with new solutions for old problems.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
- PhD/B.S./M.S. degree or equivalent experience in a comparable field: statistics, AI/ML, computer science, or similar or qualified by experience.
- Extensive experience in implementing data science and machine learning techniques to solve practical problems based on real-world data.
- Leadership across teams of data scientists.
- Clear experience across marketing analytics and deep domain knowledge of ad tech or media preferred.[CP1]
- Proven experience in partnering with product and engineering leadership to establish a clear strategy for data driven products and features.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into a rigorous, statistical framework.
- Proven ability to attract, hire, develop, and retain exceptional talent.
- Strong programming skills in Python. Experience working with ML packages (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.), parallelized data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, etc.), and python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.).
