The Acute Assessment unit at St. Ann’s Hospital in Poole, are looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health support Worker to join the team.

Seaview Ward is a 14 bedded acute assessment unit for male and female adultsproviding a high quality of care and treatment for patients who have physical, social, psychological and emotional health needs. The purpose of the ward is to offer comprehensive assessments and treatment enabling Service Users to have shorter stays in hospital and to develop clear plans of care.

We are looking for a caring and motivated Band 3 Mental Health Support Worker. Joining us on Seaview you will become a valued member of our team with regular supervision. We promote a calm and therapeutic approach, enabling patients to overcome their current difficulties and move forwards with their recovery.

We guarantee that no two days will be the same and that you will be helping to make a real difference to our patients lives.

We are currently looking for an individual who can commit to working day shifts on the ward, particularly anyone who would be able to work our late shifts. We do not currently have a need for MHSWs for our night shifts and so these hours would not be available:
Early Shift 07:15 - 15:15

Late Shift 13:00 - 21:00

We are looking to recruit Mental Health Support Workers for Seaview Ward.A 14 bedded acute assessment ward, providing assessment, treatment and care for a wide range of mental health illnesses which include Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The age of the patients ranges from 18 to 64.

The multi-disciplinary team on Seaview are friendly, supportive and have wide ranging skills to;
- Treat informal patients and those detained under the Mental Health Act using positive engagement, talking therapies (CBT/DBT) and medicines
- Place the patient front and centre in their recovery journey
- Engage creatively with patients to co-produce their individual care plans
- Prioritise both mental and physical health wellness
- Help patients get active, eat well and take care of their own wellbeing
- Promote freedom of choice and least restrictive practice, in a safe and therapeutic environment

You will need to have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and be able to meet the NHS values of ensuring respect and dignity, be committed to providing a high quality of care, behave with compassion and kindness, helping to improve peoples’ lives, work as a team to meet patients’ needs and make sure that everyone counts.

You will be required to undertake aPrevention and Management of Violence and Aggressioncourse and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
