An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated consultant to join our care of the elderly team working as an integral part of our multidisciplinary team. Our team comprises consultants, junior doctors, nurses and the full complement of allied health professionals providing a wide range of general and subspecialist geriatric treatment and support to the local population, providing seamless care through multidisciplinary team (MDT) working.
With a sound knowledge of Care of the Elderly, as well as an interest in general medicine or the motivation to learn and professionally develop these areas while working in a supportive environment, the successful applicant will provide a high standard of clinical care whilst supporting new ways of delivering quality services.

- Hospital and care at home, SDEC, community MDT's, cross divisional work

**Main duties of the job**:
To provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management and treatment for patients with a broad spectrum of complex geriatric care needs; act as an expert resource for medical, nursing and other health care professionals across the Trust footprint; The post holder is required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice and be on the specialist register for Geriatric Medicine. Since older people have specific healthcare needs, methods of delivering care should be tailored to meet these.
- The trust is currently working towards a sustainable virtual ward model across several specialities, of which frailty is one, - you will be expected to identify suitable patients, devise robust management plans and liaise with the dedicated frailty team to make the frailty virtual ward a success.

- Full registration with the General Medical Council with a valid license to practice
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register / Admission to the Register within 6 months of interview
- Hold MRCPUK or show evidence of equivalent training and experience
**Desirable criteria**:
- Previous UK NHS experience
**Knowledge and Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Wide experience in General Medicine
- Experience in working in a frailty service and familiarity with models of care for older frail adults.
- Excellent collaborative working skills and able to build strong relationships with Clinical and managerial leaders and professional staff groups and a proven ability to influence and change those groups both within the Trust and externally.
- A management style that empowers others and evidence of successfully driving a learning coaching culture for all staff in your area of control.
- Holding to account others to ensure they deliver to their targets and dealing effectively with performance.
