**Who are LRQA?**

LRQA stands for dedication to clients, market firsts, and deep expertise in risk management. We’ve grown to become a leading global assurance provider, bringing together outstanding expertise in certification, customised assurance, cybersecurity, inspection and training.

While we’re proud of our heritage, it’s who we are today that really matters, because that’s what shapes who we and our clients can become tomorrow. By staying true to our shared values and combining decades of collective experience, we support our clients in building a safer and more sustainable future.

LRQA currently operates across 50 countries, has more than 2,500 colleagues, generates £315m in revenue, and supports more than 60,000 clients across a diverse range of sectors and markets.

**Role Purpose**

As members of LRQA’s Fisheries Team, Fisheries Technical Officers report to the Fisheries Manager.

The role’s core responsibilities relate primarily to managing a portfolio of fisheries or schemes, including project managing and coordinating any related assessments, and technically reviewing assessment reports whilst being the primary point of contact for fisheries clients and/or scheme owners within their portfolio.

It is expected that Fisheries Technical Officers will be assigned primary responsibility for fisheries commensurate with their level of experience whereby newer or less experienced team members will be assigned lower risk or less complicated fisheries while more complicated items are assigned to more experienced team members.

Fisheries Technical Officers are also expected to support LRQA’s Quality Team and Fishery Manager in ensuring that documentation, control manuals and operating procedures related to fisheries schemes are fit for purpose and comply with accreditation body and scheme owner requirements where these responsibilities extend to contributing to internal and external audit and review processes as required.

The Fisheries Technical Officer role is intended to be useful in gaining experience in area of fisheries assessment and certification and provide a pathway to Senior Fisheries Technical Officer.

It is further intended that Senior Fisheries Technical Officers continue to grow in their role and, once they meet relevant competence requirements, become qualified Fishery Assessors (akin to Auditor) and latterly Lead Assessors (akin to Lead Auditor).

Once qualified, Senior Fisheries Technical Officers are expected to spend an agreed portion of their time as Assessors and/or Lead Assessors as appropriate where the agreed portion will depend on the needs and balance of the Fishery Team and LRQA’s fishery portfolio at a given time.

In this way, the Fisheries Technical Officer role is intended to provide a pathway to Fishery Assessor and Lead Assessor.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Maintain a good level of knowledge of international fisheries and impact on fisheries schemes.
