Pathology Tracker/Administrative Support Band 4

We are looking for an enthusiastic flexible and reliable person to join our friendly and highly motivated Cellular Pathology team at Kettering General Hospital.

**WHO WE ARE**:
The department receives over 30,000 specimens per year and undertakes all routine histological procedures, Diagnostic cytology and Andrology services. We are UKAS accredited and registered with the IBMS as a pre and post registration training laboratory.

**WHERE WE ARE**:
Kettering offers great access to all the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. It has excellent road and rail network links to and from London, the East Midlands and Birmingham and the hospital is just off the A14 giving easy access to the M1.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**:
You will work as a Pathology Tracker within the Cellular Pathology department where you will track histology samples from patients on cancer pathways and attend and provide histology updates at twice weekly meetings with Cancer Services.

You will work closely with Consultant Histopathologists, Biomedical Scientists and the Cancer Services department. The position is full time (37.5 hrs) and the current working days are Monday to Friday, 9:00-5:30pm

The position is fixed term with funding for the position until December 2023.

You must have with the skills and confidence to work independently and be able to work accurately and efficiently demonstrating good organisational skills and be familiar working with a range of Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication skills both face to face and on the telephone are required.

1. Track samples on twice weekly Patient Tracking List (PTL) produced by Cancer Services.
2. Attend twice weekly meetings with Cancer Services where you will provide updates on the status of samples received into the department.
3. Ensure all samples from patients on cancer pathways are marked and prioritised appropriately.
4. Communicate any cases which require escalation to the Consultant Pathologists.
5. Provide administration support to the Histology department.
