**JOB DESCRIPTION - RIVER WATCHER AND GHILLIE (SEASONAL)**

**ELEMENT DETAIL**

**JOB TITLE **River Watcher and Ghillie (Seasonal)

**REPORTING TO **Estate Manager

**DEPARTMENT/LOCATION **The Baronscourt Estate on occasion but predominantly the
Abercorn Fishery where it extends along the Rivers Mourne,

Strule and Derg.

**START DATE **1st April 2023 (possibly earlier)

**MAIN PURPOSE **To assist with the management of the Abercorn Fishery on the
Rivers Mourne, Derg and Strule.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES ** *Maintenance of the fishery’s facilities and ensuring all
**(NOT EXHAUSTIVE) **associated infrastructure is kept in a high and safe state*

of repair.
- Guiding guests
- Liaising with the Estate Office in respect of fishery management
- Liaising with syndicate members
- Providing updates on river and fishing conditions
- Grounds and property maintenance (strimming)
- Maintaining the fishing huts and WC to a high standard
- Undertaking daily visits to the fishery
- Responding to reports of potential trespass/poaching

A competitive hourly rate of pay will be offered, payable
**REMUNERATION ** fortnightly in arrears.

The successful applicant will be required to work during the
**HOURS OF WORK **fishing season only and during the shoulder weeks to allow for

**(SEASONAL) **pre and post season works. During the season the successful

Applicants for the position of River Watcher and Ghillie should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

- Experience in, and knowledge, of fishery management and/or game angling
- Experience/competence in property maintenance
- Possess a full driving licence
- Possession of a firearms certificate desirable but not essential
- Previous experience of guiding guests
- Experience of angling on the Rivers Mourne, Derg and Strule desirable but not essential
- Experience in the use of strimmers and other general grounds maintenance equipment
- Welcoming and outgoing personality

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £10.00-£11.00 per hour

- Victoria Bridge: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
