**For those who join our team with a ‘relief’ contract, there may be opportunities to move to a part time or full time contract.**

**RELIEF SUPPORT WORKERS (No personal care)**
**£11.68 Per hour**
**Paid Travel time and Mileage**

At YLOH we aspire to provide for the needs of both the people we support and our staff. Our rotas are designed to accommodate those needs as far as practicable, and typically works as follows: Rotas are published about 2 weeks in advance. There are 2 versions of the rotas - 1 for staff and 1 for the people we support. Both rotas are ratified by our leadership team prior to publication.

**Main Responsibilities to include but are not limited to**:
Our Support Worker roles, based in Bideford and the surrounding area (Devon), require you hold a high level of integrity to be able to build and sustain trusting and professional relationships to help people address issues in their home and social lives, as well as providing support for their physical and emotional wellbeing.

**Responsibilities and key attributes required;**
- Caring, empathetic, compassionate, and calm nature, with patience and emotional resilience
- Good listening skills with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively to people and their families, whilst building trusted relationships providing appropriate support and advice in a sensitive manner, whilst protecting dignity and rights
- To respond appropriately to any situation of abuse and self-neglect, utilising standards defined in Safeguarding.
- Ability to adjust to changing standards and codes of conduct within the care industry
- Ability to liaise with healthcare professionals when required
- Good awareness of health and safety for those in your care and yourself and to promote awareness of any issues
- To support people in making full use of their strengths and abilities, finding outlets for social, leisure and/or work orientated activities.
- To oversee and support people in taking their prescribed medication in accordance with the medication management policy.
- Using the Getting to Know You Booklet, to provide an overall service of help, reflection, understanding and planning that helps people in a way that develops personal choice and autonomy.
- To keep accurate and legible records (both IT based and written). Utilising people’s journals, and effectively collaborating with them about the content of records.
- To implement training with people regarding their particular issues and problems, either in a group or on a one-to-one basis.
- To act as the Duty Person as per rota. The Duty Person being responsible for staff logging on and off for visits, as well as being available for enquiries to the Team and staff needing help and support.
- To act as the Keyworker for a group of people. The Keyworker being responsible for coordinating the work of the Team with those people, ensuring that all records/paperwork are completed, that the person is happy that we are working towards their plans.
