Our Nurseries
The Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) Nurseries began operating over 25 years ago and are located in Maidenhead, Slough and Reading. The nurseries offer full day care for 51 weeks per year, from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. The buildings are single storey purpose built environments that offer care and education for children up until the age of 5.
The BHFT nurseries offer a high level of care and stimulating opportunities for the children that supports their overall learning, development and wellbeing. All of the nurseries work alongside their local authority and have developed a good reputation within their local community and professional support services that enable children to remain safe and to develop as individuals.
Being owned by the NHS, the BHFT nurseries come highly recommended by families and the standard of care demonstrated for all children links to the expectations that the NHS portray worldwide.
The BHFT nurseries employ a high calibre of staff, ranging from Nursery Trainees to Degree Level practitioners. In general, the nurseries have a low staff turnover and the retention of highly skilled and motivated staff is paramount.
Although the BHFT nurseries are individual services and supported by different local authorities, the ethos, policies, procedures and expectations remain the same across the board.
Principle Duties
- To assist the Manager/Deputy Manager with the development and administration of the nursery, in accordance with the Organisation’s and Ofsted’s policies and procedures and accepting responsibility for this role in the Manager/Deputy’s absence.
- To accept full day to day responsibility for the efficient running of a specific room, ensuring that all of the children’s needs are met, and that any concerns are identified and communicated to the Nursery Manager/Deputy immediately.
- Supervision of Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who work in the room that you are responsible for. You will also be required to closely supervise apprentices and students who work in the room.
- Staff are expected to maintain the standards of care and learning opportunities for the children in a safe and stimulation environment, supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage.
