Carer (Pt)

London, United Kingdom FindersKeepers Rec. Full time

Please note, this is an employed or self-employed role.

**REF KP/SSP**

Our lovely 16-year-old client with CP is looking for a compassionate carer who he can entrust his care. He loves music and cuddles and is looked after by his established team of carers who help him with all aspects of his care. If you are looking for a waking night role and are reliable and patient, please get in contact with us.

**The Role/Client**:
K lives with his parentsand is looking for an experienced, professional and reliable carer to join his established care team working on a one-to-one basis.

K has CP as a result of a severe brain injury at birth and therefore needs constant 24/7 care. When undertaking night time care you should be aware that K does not fall asleep easily so you will be patient in settling him for the night and carrying out his nighttime routine of bathing, changing and medication (parents would assist with bathing). You will be vigilant throughout the night as K has broken sleep and typically only sleeps for an average of 4 to 5 hours on a good night. At regular intervals throughout the night, you will be required to wind K, check on K’s temperature, and ensure he is hydrated.

K is non-verbal and does not have aids to communicate so you will have to anticipate his needs to ensure his comfort in all areas of his care. K is also a full-time wheelchair user. There is a hoist in the house which can be used during the day, however at night-time, this is not used as it disrupts his sleep. K finds comfort in touch so when he needs comfort during the night the Carer would need to carry him from the bed to the chair so physical fitness is a requirement of this role. To assist with night-time movements, K has a profiling bed that moves up/down and the carer’s chair - which is right beside his bed - also moves up/down to avoid any back strain to the carer.

Face masks are required when working with K but can be removed when he is asleep. Full training in all aspects of K’’s care will be given including moving and handling.

There is a 6-month probationary period.

**About You**:

- You will have experience in the Care sector, and preferably experience with working waking night shifts.
- You will be physically fit in order to move K during the night.
- You will be extremely caring, committed and most importantly vigilant around K during the night.
- You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.

**Pay**:

- £17 per hour Weekdays
- £18 per hour Weekends / Bank Holiday

**Hours / Shifts available**:
Advance notice will be given if additional hours or alternative nights are required.

For anyone looking for additional hours, day time shifts may also be available during the week and our client is flexible on the days and times worked. It may be beneficial to both parties if you are able to work some day time hours during the week in order to get to know our client better and appreciate his gentle personality. This can be discussed at the interview stage.
