Due to recent reorganisation of services, an opportunity has arisen within the Estates Department at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest for the role of Estates Officer to support the delivery of the Estates function at Withybush General Hospital which also includes several smaller Community Hospitals and clinics.
The post holder will support the Senior Estates Officer in providing a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors. Ensure that all essential services are maintained to support clinical departments in their prime task of treating patients whilst ensuring all Statutory Legislation is complied with.
The opportunity is to join a team of Engineers with responsibility to Maintain all the aspects of Engineering in a busy Hospital Site. For this post, the applicant should be qualified in an Engineering discipline in order to maintain the Officers Skills mix.
There is a requirement to participate in a 1 in 4 on call rota.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
To provide high level technical advice on implementing a strategic programme to modernise a range of essential engineering infrastructure systems, in partnership with inhouse Design and Engineering Consultants.
To provide lead advice in the engineering/building area, both supporting and complementing the Senior Estates Officer engineering Speciality. (Mechanical or Electrical Specialist).
Contribute to the Capital planning process by assisting the Assistant Operations Managers - Hard and Soft FM in the development of a prioritised, long-term (5 years) Plant/Infrastructure Replacement Programme and working closely with the Property Section on Statutory priorities co-ordinated within the overall Estates Strategy.
Ensure the Health Board’s planned preventative maintenance programme is maintained at base hospital and relevant locality properties to ensure statutory requirements are met and patient services are supported.
Managing statutory programme of maintenance of Theatres, to ensure the operating environment is maintained to required standards to minimise Theatre closure.
During on-call periods take total control of engineering/building incident and deploy staff accordingly.

- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales
