You will be assigned both a Clinical and Educational Supervisor at the start of the job, with the expectation to have goals set out at the start of the job and regular meetings thereafter, recorded for future reference.

Subscription of the eLogbook and engagement with ISCP will be supported to allow formal record your operative sessions and progress. These will be signed off at the end of the 6 months by your clinical supervisor.

The post is available within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals and duties will include: managing major trauma, general, transplant and orthopaedic surgery patients; participating in the on-call rota in the department, emergency ward cover; and attending outpatient clinics and theatre. In addition the applicant can take a lead on departmental research or teaching activity, possibly with a view to completion of a higher degree (MSc). Established projects exist from the orthopaedic trauma base, upper GI and colorectal surgery. Time within the working week may be set aside for this specifically.

The Acute Division of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest group of adult acute hospitals in Scotland. We provide a wide range of services from community-based care through to the full range of general hospital services.

Employing more than 14,300 staff, we serve a core catchment population of 560,000. Our patients not only come from Greater Glasgow and Clyde but also, in some instances, from the whole of the West of Scotland and for our national services, from the whole of Scotland.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practice.

This post does not have Educational approval and will not be recognised for training.

The post holder will be offered the same opportunities for education as the other training post jobs.
