Part Time Transportation Dispatcher

The Dispatcher’s primary role and responsibilities include answering inbound customer calls, organize courier pickups and responding to courier related inquiries, in line with the company's service levels. They will adhere to and model the client's Purpose & Guiding Principles.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Answer customer calls to organize courier pickups and assist with courier related inquiries and complaints
- Maintain or assist in maintaining assigned files and records; receive and process information according to established guidelines and procedures
- Updates when necessary, the client's preferred supplier’s and departments about traffic incidents such as, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards, which can have a direct impact on collection and deliveries to both customers and the client.
- Maintain current knowledge of routes and locations to assure timely services and accurate information
- Communicate in a timely manner with internal departments, and the client's preferred supplier’s
- Liaise with customer service and operations to support service improvement and cost reduction programs
- Support the department with communications within specifically assigned territories.
- Perform a variety of clerical support duties as assigned; type correspondence, memos and other items; compile data from clearly defined sources and prepare reports as and when required
**ADDITIONAL DUTIES INCLUDE**
- Assist with customer issues relating to courier services and assist with Track and Trace activities
- Assist the department with Preparing shipping documents for inbound and outbound shipments
- Assist with preparing Dangerous Goods shipments (e.g. containing dry ice)
- Maintain proper documentation and log books
- Assist when required, setup of lockbox installation using either the client's own or preferred courier provider
- Assist the department with preparing all Outbound packages Organize transportation of shipments
- Prepare reports and other duties required
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**:
- Educated to GCSE level or above.
**EXPERIENCE**:Experience within transportation, customer services or administration. Previous experience within a call center would be an advantage.
**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Computer competency.
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated phone skills and ability to deal effectively with customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a busy environment.
- Ability in handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously and performing work under time constraint
- Follows up on commitments.
- Demonstrates true passion for providing quality service to customers, both internal and external.
**REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS**:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Microsoft MapPoint / Verizon, or equivalent software.
