We at R3 are currently working with an established college in Middleton who are looking for a Part-Time Communication Support Worker to support children with BSL. You will have experience supporting children with communication difficulties and you be assisting children with their educational development and communication skills.

**Salary & Hours**:
£37,348.51 pro rata per annum i.e £12,720.90 per annum.

15 hours per week, Term Time Only.

**To be considered for this role, applicants will need to demonstrate they hold the following.**

Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language / equivalent e.g., sign as first language

2 year’s general work experience of working with deaf students in schools, adult education, prisons or voluntary/charitable organisations.

Awareness of learning difficulties associated with a hearing impairment and the social and emotional difficulties that can occur.

Good standard of education 5 GCSE’s grade C or above or equivalent qualification (e.g., approved qualification as a CSW with Deaf people) or extensive experience.

**DUTIES**
- To provide communication support to Deaf/hearing impaired students across the whole College curriculum by using an appropriate method of communication e.g. British Sign Language, Sign Supported English, Lip Speaking, Clear Lip Pattern.This includes incidental hearing, activities, educational trips or work experience.
- To implement, record, review and adapt support strategies throughout the academic year.
- To work closely with curriculum to encourage inclusive teaching practice including delivery of awareness information to staff.
- To provide sign language communication at College functions as required.
- To develop/adapt Deaf/HI accessible resources/glossaries and moderate language as required.
- To provide communication support for learners requiring additional social and welfare issues e.g. support with contacting outside agencies.
- To assist learners with the use of specialist equipment and software.
- To liaise with the Student Support Manager to ensure student details, PEEPs, exam concessions and specialist equipment are in place.
- Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
