The Digital Markets Unit has been established to promote greater competition and innovation in digital markets, for the benefit of consumers and people. Our work focuses on some of the most important digital markets used by consumers and business in the UK, like online search, social media, app stores and online marketplaces.

**Job description**:
Key responsibilities may include:

- Leading and/or project manage the day-to-day delivery of a case, by monitoring milestones, planning and driving workstreams forward to ensure quality and pace of the project is maintained.
- Leading on and contributing to the drafting and preparation of key documents including correspondence, requests for information, internal papers and published reports (including reviewing the quality, coherence, accuracy and confidentiality of documents).
- Leading the engagement and management of key strategic relationships, including communications with stakeholders and other regulators. This includes the preparation of and/or oversight of the preparation of relevant stakeholder engagement materials.
- Working closely with colleagues across the CMA to build our understanding and evidence base in key digital sectors which will inform our assessments of ‘Strategic Market Status’ and inform specific projects to promote competition or address harms to consumers or innovation.
- Working closely with colleagues across the CMA to review a range of qualitative and quantitative evidence to assess which digital firms have ‘Strategic Market Status’ and therefore fall within scope of the new regime.
- Working closely with colleagues on setting the rules to be placed on the digital firms to address market power and promote competition.
- Monitoring firms’ behaviour to check that they are complying with the new rules and recommend action to address any rule breaches or non-compliant activity.
- Developing expertise and deep knowledge in important digital sectors and support horizon-scanning activities to understand the impact of new digital technologies.
- Supporting work building our horizon scanning and markets insights function, working closely with colleagues in areas of the CMA, in particular the CMA’s Data and Technology Analytics unit who lead on understanding technologies.
- Working with other regulators with responsibilities for digital markets, both domestically and internationally, to strengthen cooperation and deliver a more effective, coherent regulatory landscape.

**Wider responsibilities**
- Line and work management responsibility for members of the Digital Markets Unit, supporting individual development and providing timely feedback.
- Contributing to the overall development of the DMU, including ensuring that best practice and knowledge is shared within the DMU.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**:

- Experience leading work within multi-disciplinary teams to successfully manage and deliver case work (or project work) including managing others to deliver results within challenging timeframes (lead criteria).
- Experience of developing and drafting recommendations by drawing on analysis of a wide range of information and identifying and communicating key risks (lead criteria).
- Experience in communicating effectively (both verbal and written) with a range of audiences,
