**Job Purpose**:
The role of Control Systems Infrastructure Database Administrator is to develop and maintain the infrastructure and services that support UK Power Networks Control Systems for EPN, LPN and SPN networks ensuring safe and secure operation and positive impact on reduction of customer interruptions and customer minutes lost.

**We are specifically looking for an Oracle Database Administrator who in addition to database administration has the aptitude to work with other technologies and solutions as specified in the job description**

The post holder will be part of a team bringing improvement and innovation to the key control systems infrastructure platforms. This will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently across all levels with all stakeholders.

The role will be part of a team that maintains Control Systems Infrastructure support 24 hours a day to ensure 24/7 availability of business-critical systems.

**Principal Accountabilities**:
Ensure highest standards of safety are applied across all areas of responsibility.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Control System infrastructure including installation, configuration, monitoring, performance and preventative maintenance.
Responsible for problem resolution including in depth root cause analysis for all infrastructure components.
Liaison with 3rd party service providers for the integration of platforms, development of new solutions and timely rectification of service issues.
Operation, tracking and assurance of system change adhering to IS, OT and cyber security policy and procedures.
Maintain system access control adhering to business, IS, OT and cyber security policy and procedures.
Participate in the Control Systems infrastructure 24x7 standby rota with the further option for out of hour’s standby agreements.
Liaison with OT, security and Ops Telecoms teams with a view to constant systems improvement though collaboration and proactive fault finding.
Preparation of timely, accurate reporting on system performance, availability and risk.
Participation in infrastructure improvement and upgrade projects including testing, implementation and support.
Document and implement operational standards relating to Control Systems infrastructure.
Operate and maintain system backup and recovery solutions.

**Nature and scope**:
The Control Systems Infrastructure Database Administrator reports to the Control Systems Infrastructure Team Leader within the Control Systems and Automation department. The Control Systems and Automation team are dedicated to making UK Power Networks Control Systems world class.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting and developing, with a view to driving forward UK Power Networks growing Control Systems server estate, which currently comprises of 280 Windows servers, 130 Linux servers, 68 VMware ESXI hosts and 90 Oracle database instances.

It is our ambition to be regarded as an industry leader in the area of Control Systems and Automation. Above all, the post holder must have the capability to develop key areas of the Control Systems to deliver against this objective.

Oracle memory structures.
Schema and data security.
AWR reporting.
SQL and PL/SQL scripting languages.
Database backup and restoration using RMAN and datapump.

Oracle and MSSql databases.
VMWare platform and services.
Apache and Perl on Windows and Linux platforms.
Microsoft active directory.
