RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Newark, Nottinghamshire for a Young Persons Support Worker to encourage young people to be the best version of themselves.

This is a full time, permanent role and offers a salary of £19,529 - £21,026 per annum.

**Must be willing to drive between sites so valid driving license and access to own vehicle is essential.**

**Main Duties**:

- Support young people to express themselves and make informed choices and decisions about their lives in a way that respects their dignity and rights.
- Build skills, confidence and independence of young people.
- Devise and implement individual care and/or support plans with risk assessments that are not risk averse.
- Follow and review care and/or support plans with the service user and record progress of plans.
- Assist in the delivery of support to service users who may present behavioural challenges.
- Key holding including coordinating other shift staff, administering medications and handling money.
- Assume responsibility for safeguarding adults and/or children who have needs for care and support, are experiencing, or are at risk of, abuse or neglect, and as a result of those needs are unable to protect themselves against the abuse or neglect or therisk of it.
- Maintain service user records through client IT systems or paper records; sharing confidentially with work colleagues and other relevant people as appropriate to provide consistent care and support.
- Maintain Health and Safety and day-to-day records of financial transactions and administration.
- Enable service users to make informed choices through joint reviews of Care and/or Support planning and recorded risk assessments.
- Maintain a safe and healthy physical environment for service users and colleagues; complying with current infection control policies and procedures and completing relevant Health and Safety training.
- Respond to health and safety issues; implementing emergency procedures where necessary.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Must be able to work a rota basis, service operates 24/7, however day shifts are either 08:00 - 15:30 or 14:30 - 22:00. There will be the option to pick up nights on occasion, for which night enhancement rates will apply.
- Previous experience of working with Young People and who have an understanding the challenges young people face, childhood trauma and its effects.
- Experience and knowledge of mental health needs, housing and benefit related issues and an awareness of drug and alcohol related needs, supporting agencies and evidence based reduction/recovery interventions.
- Networking experience.
- Solid understanding of local resources.
- Be able to work effectively on your own, be confident in communication skills, relationship building and a desire to help people work to their strengths and maximise their futures.
