**The role**

Our Product, Design, and Technology department is looking for a Staff User Researcher to join our growing User Research team to lead on both platform and strategic research initiatives.

As a core part of the User Research team, you will operate across our product suite alongside supporting the development of the User Research practice. This is the ideal opportunity for someone seeking to lead the practice through their craft, strengthening their voice as a leader and practitioner.

**Key Responsibilities**

As the Staff User Researcher, you will be responsible for:

- **Research as a driver of product and business strategy**: Leading Product and Design teams in problem framing by bringing existing research insights or hypotheses into the user and business contexts, leveraging critical thinking on ways to move forward and/or inform the approach to potential research or other activities.
- **Shaping a holistic design and research mindset**: Shifting the mindset and working model toward addressing problems and opportunities holistically by bridging gaps in knowledge across the product suite and mobilising cross-functional teams to make necessary platform connections. Instilling systems thinking by leveraging service design methodologies as see fit
- **Managing and conducting research studies for product development**: Defining and prioritising product research requirements with your counterparts in Product, Design, and Engineering, ensuring UXR and Product roadmaps are aligned, and leading on key research initiatives to inform strategy.
- **Cross-functional collaboration and engagement**: Developing working relationships with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and key stakeholders through facilitation and organisation of research and initiatives in the context of platform experience and/or wider business context, facilitating key decision-making and prioritisation.
- **Shaping new research opportunities**: Supporting the shaping and conducting of new research opportunities or areas of investment by bringing awareness to knowledge gaps, connections, and implications across the platform experience with product teams and wider business stakeholders.
- **Supporting UXR team as a strategic partner**: Making wider connections to larger programmes of work/initiatives inside and outside of the Product, Design, and Technology department, helping position User Research as a strategic partner in the business.
- **UXR practice development by leveraging Service Design mindset and practice**: Supporting development of the User Research practice by keeping a pulse on wider business strategy and vision alongside the operating model across the Product Design and Technology department. Ensuring a holistic mindset and approach is applied in research endeavours, addressing the complexities underpinning technology, people, and processes to help solve problems and define new opportunities.
- **Mentorship**: Leading, mentoring, and guiding members of the User Research team.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**

As a member of the Design, Content, and Research team you have the:

- A track record of bringing strategic impact through research by mobilising and managing appropriate teams and key stakeholders toward acting on insight-informed opportunities and areas of investment.
- Expert-level knowledge in the field of UX research, including hands-on experience across generative and evaluative research approaches, spanning qualitative and quantitative methodologies such as in-depth interviews, observational research, focus groups, survey design, card sorting, tree testing, data analysis, and usability testing.
- Excellent discretion on when to commission research [or when not to], and shape the scope of work through stakeholder management.
- Expert-level knowledge in the field of Service Design, including a natural ability to frame and approach challenges considering wider ecosystem relationships, interconnections, and implications of research outcomes, leveraging suitable service design methodologies to bring clarity and actionability—such as user journey mapping, service blueprinting, systems mapping, stakeholder mapping, etc.
