**Who We Are Looking For**

A Senior Piping Designer who demonstrates a high level of competence, research ability, technical knowledge and experience as expected in the role. Creation and development of engineering solutions for allocated jobs/projects who has proven experience in a Piping Designer role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor or Service Company. We require someone with demonstrable experience of drilling process piping design as essential with offshore survey experience preferred.

This role will initially be required for 3-6 months.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Production of cost effective design solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both KCA DEUTAG and the Client. Motivation of discipline personnel to do similarly.
- Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
- Knowledge of, and compliance with, KCA DEUTAG Management Systems. Assurance that personnel under the Lead Designer’s control comply with the procedures.
- Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards. Assurance that personnel under the Lead Designer’s control comply with relevant documents.
- Supervision of discipline personnel under own control, and for the quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
- Assurance of competence of design personnel under the Senior Designer’s control. Identification of personnel shortfalls and submission of proposal to the Lead Discipline Designer for solutions such as training, coaching or replacement.
- Identification of design scope of work required to undertake a project/job. Estimation of deliverables, manpower and time required to execute the scope of work.
- Input to project plans and schedules via the Lead Discipline Designer.
- Early identification to the Lead Discipline Designer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.

- Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design. Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel of changes to their installation.
- Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
- Raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services, as directed by the Lead Discipline Designer.
- Monitoring progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget. Reporting progress to the Lead Discipline Designer as per KCA DEUTAG systems and procedures.
- Checking of documents created by own discipline, e.g. drawings, bills of materials.
- Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Designer accordingly.
- Ensuring Discipline Designers follow discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints.
- Representation of KCA DEUTAG with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner as required.
- Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the KCA DEUTAG / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and minimum cost solutions.

**Safety**
- Use of safe approach in design and working practices, following the objectives of the Office and project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans. Encouragement of attention to safety in personnel allocated to own area of responsibility.

**Financial**
- Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the KCA Deutag/ client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit-for-purpose solutions.

**Key Skills & Experience**

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Professional qualifications and member of discipline professional institution.

**Experience**:

- Proven experience in a Piping Designer role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor or Service Company

- Demonstrate competence in Pipe Design
- Must be well organised, proactive and a good communicator
- Good interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor their approach to deal appropriately with all levels of contact

- Deadline conscious with strong drive and initiative and ability to work well in time sensitive situations
- Understanding of the Oil & Gas sector marketplace, market forces
