The Welsh Centre for Burns & Plastic Surgery (WCBPS) based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea provides outreach services to nearly all acute hospitals in South Wales serving a population of 2.3M. Following establishment of the SWTN/Welsh Major Trauma Centre (MTC) at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) Cardiff in 2020, The WCBPS has been instrumental in providing 8am to 8pm weekday cover for major and lower limb trauma at MTC. The Lower Limb service is a rapidly expanding service that undertakes combined orthoplastic lower limb reconstruction at Morriston Hospital, Swansea following successful transfer of patients who have been stabilised at the initial injury. The team manages around 120 open lower limb fractures per year that require soft tissue reconstruction, mostly with free tissue transfer.

We provide a bone infection service dealing with fracture related infection/osteomyelitis, There is potential for the fellow to participate in other microsurgical cases.
