**Role outlined**

This is a role that will see you working as a HR/Payroll Assistant in a well established and well respected team. The business is a successful one that is well led and HR is valued by the business. As such it offers you the opportunity to focus on quality of service and solutions and be able to have a real impact on the business. Working as a key member of the HR team you will be responsible for helping in the delivery of strategically focussed projects as well as day to day HR management across our sites. Your key remit will be to deliver the payroll process, develop and ensure best practice within HR processes, and to develop our employees to support the businesses in achieving its vision, values and achieving operational excellence.

**Main responsibilities**
- Working with the Group HR team and operational stakeholders develop plan/projects to deal with issues such as succession planning, talent development and diversity and inclusion.
- Working in partnership with Operational Managers coaching and advising them to help improve the people/management capabilities across their teams.
- Ensuring that the business is receiving the operational HR support that they need to ensure any day to day operational HR/ER issues are dealt with.
- Continuing to promote the value of HR and driving a focus on continuous improvement both in the business and in the wider team.
- Continuous development and implementation of policies and procedures in line with legislation.
- Responsible for the recruitment and selection processes at local level ensuring effective selection decisions which are consistent with company goals and objectives.
- Development and implementation of training programmes to support business objectives, including induction; management development and ad hoc requirements.
- Responsible for the performance management programme, supporting Line Managers to ensure objectives are set and regular reviews carried out.
- Manage departmental budget and provide monthly HR MI data.

**Daily tasks**
- Responsible for the updating of the clocking in and out system and that all relevant systems and reports are reflective of real time data.
- Create and maintain electronic personnel files including the provision of all new starter paperwork including contract of employments to ensure HR compliance.
- Administer the HR inbox for daily enquiries and ensuring these are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Ensure employee inductions and probationary meetings are carried out within the required timelines.
- Ensure employee health and safety compliance and all associated documentation is maintained.

**Payroll tasks**
- Collate information daily to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Set up, maintain and close staff loans.
- Ensure any fines employees receive during the course of their work are actioned correctly. and in line with legislation.
- Ensure all employees personal data is up to date.
- Ensure new starters are added and leavers are processed.
- Issue salary sacrifice illustrations to employees on request.
- Maintain the employee payslip portal.
- Process Death in Service paperwork.

**What level of experience will I need?**
- You will need confidence in dealing with issues like succession planning, workforce planning and talent development.
- A sound HR generalist background (and be prepared to be involved with operational HR issues primarily within a factory environment).
- Experience of leading on annual/cyclical HR projects like performance and pay reviews.
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification
- Strong generalist HR experience
- Experience of processing payroll, SAGE 50 desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of pensions and salary sacrifice schemes
- Proven and effective administration skills
- Resolution and results driven
- The successful individual should have excellent; written and verbal skills and be fully PC literate and IT conversant.
- Ability to work under pressure when required to meet tight deadlines.
