Role Title: Head of Design
Location: Glasgow
What will you be doing

This is a key leadership role. The role holder must have prior Design experience and experience of leading others:
ï‚- Effectively lead a team of multi-disciplined designers with expertise in UX, UI, Service Design etc
ï‚- Provide continuous Design thought leadership including to the most senior Managing Directors of Private Bank Wealth Management.
ï‚- Effectively utilise prior industry design experience to create and support delivering world class client experiences.
ï‚- Develop Design strategy and work with others to develop transformation strategies.
ï‚- Challenge to ensure outstanding Design is delivered to our clients, adding client value continuously and support a culture of client obsession.
ï‚- Build relationships across the Barclays Group to support sharing of best practice, effective ways of working and standardisation.

Lead the Design Team in the following areas:
ï‚- Conduct user research via interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights and understand user needs.
ï‚- Create visual representations of user journeys and map out the product's layout and functionality to illustrate the user flow and interactions via wireframing and prototyping.
ï‚- Develop high-fidelity mock-ups and information visualisation while ensuring the visual elements align with the brand and enhance the overall user experience.
ï‚- Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement design solutions and address usability challenges.
ï‚- Ensure designs are responsive and adaptable across various devices and screen sizes, and integrate accessibility principles to make products equitable for all.
ï‚- Assist the design team in creative problem-solving and proactively contribute to our transformational goals
ï‚- Effectively incorporate a range of data points both internal and external to the organisation to support design creation
ï‚- Plan and lead design thinking workshops as part of our change delivery model for all levels of the organisation
ï‚- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to deliver cohesive solutions.
ï‚- Continually link back all designs to strategic goals and the client value we want to deliver
ï‚- Coach our wider team in understanding human centred design industry standard methods/approaches

We are seeking a talented and passionate Design Director to join our team of visionaries, who thrives on crafting elegant and intuitive user experiences while maintaining a keen eye for visually appealing interfaces. Skilled in design principles and industry-standard tools and also understand the human-centric aspect of design. Collaboration is critical and the environment we operate in is a fast-paced environment that encourages innovation and growth.

ï‚- Must have led a team of multi-disciplined Designers and can influence at Director/Managing Director level
ï‚- Strong portfolio showcasing previous design projects, demonstrating skills in wireframing, prototyping, and a variety of design tools
ï‚- A deep understanding and execution of Human Centred Design methodologies
ï‚- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision and Adobe Suite
ï‚- Experience with user research methodologies, usability testing, and the ability to translate findings into design improvements
ï‚- Deep knowledge of user experience principles, information architecture, and interaction design
ï‚- Outstanding communication skills to articulate design decisions and collaborate with cross-functional teams
ï‚- Ability to adapt to work in a dynamic environment
ï‚- A keen eye for detail to ensure the design aligns with brand guidelines and provides a positive user experience
ï‚- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to address design challenges
ï‚- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and developers to bring designs to fruition

Skills that will help you in your role
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, or a related field
- Experience with an in-house Design team or at a Design agency
- Experience working with the Agile change methodology
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript and front-end development concepts
