**Reporting **to**: Development Team Manager

PURPOSE

As Scrum Master, you’ll be working within a multi-disciplined Scrum Team to facilitate and enable the delivery of high quality software across multiple workstreams.

Through collaboration, coaching and tracking sprints, you’ll be working with all members of the Software Design & Engineering team to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

You will be an advocate and evangelist of Agile frameworks including Scrum, fostering a safe and open environment where the team feel they have the courage to share challenges, driving improvement, through collaboration and commitment.

The Scrum Master will empower the Scrum team to work more effectively, by skilfully removing obstacles and distractions that may impede the team from meeting goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive effective communication and collaboration within the scrum teams and wider stakeholder community
- Guide and coach the team in using Scrum practices, ceremonies, and roles
- Lead the scrum teams in self-organisation
- Proactive escalation and removal of impediments, risks and issues to increase team effectiveness and efficiency
- Resolve conflicts and issues that occur
- Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity
- Contribute to the continued growth and improvement of Agile practices within the organisation by working with other Scrum Master/Teams
- Facilitation and supports all Scrum ceremonies; Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospectives
- Protect the scrum team from unnecessary distractions or interference, keeping them focused to the agreed sprint goal(s)
- Model key values that make a scrum team successful: commitment, courage, focus, openness, and respect

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

You will be a natural and engaging communicator, able to influence and bring the team on the journey while driving them to deliver high quality output. Your approach to work will be forward-looking, detail oriented and with a strong drive for results.

**Essential**
- Relevant Professional qualification eg Certified Scrum Master, Advance Certified Scrum Master, Certified Agile Coach
- Demonstrable experience exemplifying and promoting Agile frameworks and principles
- Several years' experience working as a Scrum Master in a software team and ideally working in multiple teams, across multiple products.
- An excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
- Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
- Experience working with both time-boxed and feature-boxed/duration releases
- Exceptional facilitation, communication, interpersonal and coaching/mentoring skills
- Encourage team focus by holding the team to their own definition of ready and done, by encouraging full team participation during all scrum ceremonies
- Ability to analyse and think quickly and to resolve conflict
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction

**Desirable**
- Experience of working with offshore partners
- Experience of SaaS software development
- Legal tech sector industry experience advantageous
- Knowledge and experience of using Azure DevOps as a workflow management tool
- Ability to work with other Scrum Masters to grow within the role
