**Salary**: £55.60 per hour (Umbrella) or £ 48.35 per hour (PAYE inclusive of holiday pay)

The Divisional Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality patient services within the Allied Health Diagnostics and Cancer services that are clinically sound, delivered cost effectively and meet the Trust’s prioritiesand performance targets.

The role of the Divisional Director of Operations (DDOP) is to provide strong local leadership to the Division and to balance strategic plans with operational needs and robust delivery.

The DDOP will provide strategic leadership at divisional level, ensure that there are appropriate systems and processes within the Division to enable staff to deliver good quality clinical care and drive forward the service improvement agenda to achieveefficiency gains and improve the operational effectiveness of the Division. Specifically, the Divisional Director of Operations will:

- Take day-to-day responsibility and accountability for the operational running of the Divisionwith the Divisional Director and Associate Divisional professional leads for Radiography, Therapies and Pharmacy performance manage the Divisional Teams
- Lead the Division to ensure national and local targets are achieved and that they meet the needs of the local community and the wider NHS and fulfil commissioner agreements
- Develop and implement plans to deliver the relevant Trust objectives as requiredMonitor and manage performance to ensure that patient-centred services are of a consistently high standard
- Provide leadership and management to both direct and indirect reports
- Establish strong links with the wider health and social care community by securing their involvement in the effective delivery of services
- Have a strong knowledge of service improvement methodologies and keep these at the forefront of service developments
- Take shared corporate responsibility for the financial performance of the Trust, including the achievement of financial targets, balancing the potentially conflicting demands of budgetary requirements and clinical standards
- Provide functional day to day leadership and support to the Clinical Directors/Clinical Leads, General / Service Managers and Divisional Senior Nursing Team
- Lead on the monitoring and management of all access standards for the Division
- Provide direction and leadership to the divisional team, ensuring that services provided are appropriate and continuously developed and that they contribute effectively to the performance of the Trust
- Provide shared direction and leadership as part of the site leadership team to the effective running of non-elective pathways and the Major Trauma Centre
- Ensure the Division develops its workforce strategies and develops comprehensive workforce plans sufficient to meet the Trust’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure good people management practice and effective team-working is operating across the division and support the improvement of cross-divisional working
- Always provide effective and visible leadership and direction in the operation and delivery of all services within the Division and as part of the senior leadership team responsible for non-elective operations of the hospital site
- Keep the Chief Operating Officer abreast of relevant day to day matters relating to services and site issues
- Ensure full compliance with the Trust’s Assurance Framework and any related standards including assurance on all corporate and clinical risks
- Work with the Divisional Director, Associate Directors and Clinical Leads to secure clinical engagement in the day to day activities of the Trust, and in performance improvements and service developments, working with the leads in other Divisions whereappropriate

**Skills/Experience/Knowledge required**:

- Extensive experience at a senior level in an acute Trust environment, including a sound understanding of the performance and governance requirements of the NHS for acute Trusts
- Significant experience of financial management and rigorous financial management and control to meet agreed targets
- Contract monitoring, staff management and departmental performance indicators
- High degree of political sensitivity and experience of dealing with a range of issues in a complex stakeholder environment
- Sound analytical, negotiation and numerical skills
- Ability to develop and influence a high performing, collaborative team, whilst allowing flexibility for members to develop against their own personal targets
- Ability to establish rapport/credibility with Trust staff including clinicians, managers, staff, staff representatives and professionals from outside the Trust
- Track record of achievement as a leader which demonstrates significant successes through innovation and a strong but sensitive style, which contributes directly to the patient experience and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate well developed negotiation skills coupled with the ability to tackle poor performance effectively
- Experience of instigating and leading complex change to achieve continuous improvement
- Evidenced experience of building and sustaining effective and productive working relationships with a range of people at local and regional level including statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations
- Evidence of a collaborative management style coupled with improving quality of service provision at a strategic level
- Master’s degree or equivalent level Management qualification
- Further evidence of management/leadership training and continuous professional development
