We are looking for someone to take up the exciting role of out-patients receptionist to join our busy clinical administration team.

**Main Purpose of Post**

Reporting to the Clinical Administration Manager, this role has responsibility for delivering a high quality reception service for the Out-Patients department.

**Service Overview**

St Gemma’s Out-Patients Service offers patients extra support to manage their symptoms, gain more confidence at home and maximise their quality of life at any stage of their illness. Our service supports patients and carers in a safe and welcoming environment, through out-patient medical or nursing appointments, group sessions and a number of service specific appointments such as Complementary therapy and Physiotherapy. Patients and carers can come along and enjoy the friendly and therapeutic environment. As well as support with self-management of their illness, patients can access creative therapy activity, fitness, and well-being activities, as well as enjoying our beautiful garden. We also offer group activities for carers and relatives following bereavement.

Our expert staff include specialist nurses, doctors, social workers and therapists who work closely as a multi-disciplinary team.

**Reception Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide a professional and effective reception service for the Out-patients Service by meeting and greeting patients and visitors.
- Make appointments for patients, liaising with clinical and clinical support teams, handling all communications and room bookings.
- Make arrangements for transport for patients and outpatients within agreed timescales.
- Provide telephone support for the Out-Patients and Therapy teams department. Dealing with enquiries from a wide variety of sources including professionals, patients and families (some of which may be bereaved / distressed). Determine urgency of the request, decide or advise on the course of action, take messages and follow up where needed.
- Support the Out-Patient group sessions in an administrative capacity, again liaising with clinical staff and clinical support teams.
- Liaise with a variety of staff, patients and visitors both internally and externally. Ensure ongoing liaison with St Gemma’s main reception on matters of importance.
