Cornwall Insight is a leader in research, analysis, consulting, and training in the energy markets, and we are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant (Strategy) to join our growing consultancy team.

**The position**:

This is an opportunity to take a key leadership role within Cornwall Insight’s award-winning GB and Ireland consulting team. Along with other members of the consulting leadership team, you will be responsible for making our vision a reality - being a trusted partner to organisations across the energy value chain on their net zero journeys. You will develop our strategic consulting propositions and grow a team dedicated to their delivery.
You will play a central role in helping to solve the most critical strategic problems for leading energy companies and investors. Working closely with a range of client management and executives, you will have the opportunity to identify the transformational business change required to deliver strategic priorities.

You will help build new networks, generate thought leadership, and develop new propositions and initiatives. You will identify and implement new strategic consulting propositions and lead project delivery through project management of those strategic projects.

**The location**:

We have a fully flexible working policy. We have offices in Norwich and London with the flexibility of remote working as part of our agile working policy.

Key Responsibilities

**Business development**
- Develop market approach and new strategic consulting propositions including client targeting
- Carry out business development for strategic consulting work, playing a key role in opportunity qualification and proposal development
- Develop partnerships with other advisors for delivery of strategic consulting work where relevant
- Help build a new network of senior-level contacts and manage key client relationships

**Project delivery**
- Lead delivery of major projects, drawing in expertise and resource from the wider team as required
- Develop the insight to unlock challenging client problems, and delivering clear, persuasive, and concise outputs for executive audiences.
- Share best practice across the group
- Support QA activity across a broad range of projects, setting the standard for the team

**Team management**
- Deputise for and support Managing Consultant as required
- Work closely with other Principal Consultants to manage resources
- Lead recruitment activities for growing a new strategy capability
- Support upskilling and coaching individuals from across the CI consulting teams
- Support management reporting on consultancy activity

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Educated to degree level
- 10+ years of experience in consulting
- Experience working in strategy consulting in the energy sector
- Proven track record in management and leadership roles, with strong initiative, self-motivation, and time management skills
- Proven business development skills and highly developed commercial acumen
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive and highly motivated to meet customer requirements
