Support Worker

Knight Housing provides homes for those people in our community that are vulnerable and in need of security and comfort in their lives and with a view to helping establish themselves as a member of the community in which they will live. We not only provide a home but offer help and support that is needed now and in the future. We help the vulnerable in our society to obtain and develop the tools to live and function successfully

We are looking for experienced individual to provide a variety of services all designed to help sustain the tenancies of the individuals that we support.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Support
To work with clients ensuring provision of advice, support, motivation, crisis intervention and future planning, as appropriate to the expressed needs of our service users

We are looking for someone that is patient, caring, a good listener, a great communicator and willing to share your skills to help those less able. You will be working with clients of various ages who may have mental health issues and more complex needs, who may need a bit of help to get things done to achieve the lifestyle they, want: a secure home, improved life skills, friends and a happy life

We would like someone that is flexible, with a "can do" attitude, striving for continuous improvement, be able to demonstrate the ability to stay calm under pressure, be non-judgemental and diplomatic. We are looking for the ability to problem solve, motivate and encourage others. Most importantly, someone that will treat others with respect and kindness.

As a Support Worker you will be prepared to have a flexible approach. Shifts include working days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Support Workers will be required to carry out risk assessments and create support plans for each tenant in their case load. Support Workers will carry out daily supervision sessions with the tenants to ensure they are able to manage their tenancy effectively. The support sessions involve a number of services including:
Financial Budgeting
Assistance with GP registration
Signposting for drugs and alcohol support
Accommodation search (Long Term Accommodation)
Access to education provision
Overcoming employability issues
Avoiding rent arrears.
Reducing anti social behaviour

We are offering 30-40 hours per week - Training will be provided for the role

Start Date: Immediate

Experience: At least 2 years support work experience in a work or voluntary environment would be beneficial. A current DBS check would also be preferable

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands (required)

Licence: Car and Driving License (required)

Expected hours: 12 - 16 per week
