Finance Manager

We are seeking a very 'hands on' Finance Manager to join a growing SME business in this new role for their organisation.
The successful applicant will be very hands on and involved in producing accurate financial and management accounts as well as completing the day-to-day accounting processes for the business. The objective of this role will be to ensure the financial successof the organisation through accurate and timely financial reporting and the development of well-managed processes to enable the advancement of the business.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
- Day-to-day management of the finance function
- Preparation of timely monthly management accounts (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, P&L)
- Creation and delivery of budgets and forecasts / reforecasting in collaboration with the SMT
- Day to day financial transactions - oversee all cash flow movements including payments / bank reconciliations
- Debtor and creditor management and highlighting of risks
- Control and manage retention registers relating to sales and subcontractors to monitor monies
- Completion of CIS returns
- Process timesheets for subcontractors weekly (approx. 20 - 25)
- Payroll, monitoring of staff holidays, PAYE and completion of payroll journals and submission of information to HMRC
- Produce draft statutory accounts as applicable and supporting information pack
- VAT returns
- Liaise with accountants to ensure all information is presented when requested, as well as ensuring all external information is prepared
- Process and system improvements to drive efficiency whist maintaining customer service across the business
**Skills and experience required**:
- CIMA / ACCA part qualified - QBE applicants with relevant experience will be considered
- Experience of working within construction industry desirable
- Knowledge of accountancy software with Xero desirable
- Strong knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables / VLOOKUP's)
- Experience of working within a small finance team or a standalone FM role
- Demonstrates a growth mindset and an interest in seeing the role and business develop
- Confident in leading, challenging and influencing both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Ability to highlight commercial opportunities and risk
- Takes a collaborative approach
**Hours of work**:
- Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (1 hour lunch)
**Salary and benefits**:
- Up to £42,000
- 20 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Statutory pension
- Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days at home)
- Petrol expense (to / from work paid)
