**About the store**

Specsavers in Marlborough first opened its doors in 2012. The store sits in a prominent position on the main high street and is firmly embedded within the local community. The loyal and growing customer base includes shoppers from neighbouring villages as well as those visiting the town and its bi-weekly market. It is a well-respected store with a huge focus on customer retention and the catchment area includes the many affluent surrounding villages. By providing an unrivalled patient experience (there are just 2 other independent opticians in the town) Specsavers Marlborough can boast of a huge market share.

A team of 11 dedicated and passionate colleagues call this store home. There are 2 test rooms and both have benefitted from having new equipment installed this year. Specsavers Marlborough is an Audiology spoke to the Chippenham Hub and provide hearcare services once a week. The current Partners have always been really passionate about the development of the team, and as the new Retail Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required.

**Store location**

The store is located in the beautiful town of Marlborough known for its attractive 17th century buildings and broad High Street (famous for being the second widest in England) - perfect for people looking to escape to the country. It’s an historic town with many original buildings such as The Merchant’s House (situated right next door to Specsavers) which was built following the Great Fire of London in 1653. There is a regular market twice a week as well as numerous events taking place throughout the year; local jazz festivals, funfairs, literary festivals, food festivals and the famous Barbury International Horse Trails nearby.

Set amongst the North Wessex Downs which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as numerous hiking and walking routes, Marlborough is perfect for walkers and cyclists alike.

A free car park, only 5 minutes’ walk from the store and entry to the M4 motorway less than 8 miles away, make the store easily accessible by car. Marlborough sits in between Bath to its east and Reading to its left. Both towns are less than 40 minutes’ drive whilst Swindon is only 13 miles north.

**Requirements of the role**

Alongside being an experienced retailer with experience in Optics, the right person for this position will be confident, possess a strong worth ethic and a willingness to succeed. You’ll be passionate about your job and enjoy a fast-paced environment. You’ll be willing to go the extra mile for customers and someone who encourages their team to do the same.
