Aspire People are working with a Secondary School in Oldham than require a Resistant Material Technician: To start ASAP, Start time 8am - 4pm, Term Time only till end of July 2023, Daily rate is negotiable. Must have Resistant Material experience or similar.
Requirements: The handling of bricks, mixing cement, working outside in all weathers. Using the laser cutter.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated at least to GCSE or equivalent
- Experience of leading the provision of practical and technical support to staff and students in an educational department
- Experience of coordinating the maintenance and deployment of equipment, materials and learning resources for Resistant Materials

- The ability to lead and manage individuals and teams of staff so as to bring out the best in them and the best outcomes for the Academy
- The ability to carry out rigorous self evaluation and review and to act on the findings in order to bring about improvement
- The ability to maintain a focus on continuous improvement and the development and sharing of good practice
- The ability to provide effective support to staff so as to ensure the maintenance of good conduct and relationships within and beyond your team
Professional Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills including a practical knowledge of operating relevant ICT software
- In depth knowledge and understanding of educational equipment, materials and learning resources for use in Resistant Materials at secondary level
- In depth knowledge and understanding of specialist Health & Safety guidelines and procedures and the ability to ensure that students adhere to them
Personal Skills and Qualities
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to command respect and to collaborate effectively
- Good oral and written communication skills and confidence in the use of new technologies
- Ability to work in an organised and methodical way and to prioritise and manage workload
- Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly and to maintain confidentiality
Other Work Related Requirements
- Willingness and ability to maintain a safe and orderly working environment in the areas in which you work
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety requirements and the ability to ensure that they are adhered to
- Willingness to travel between the two sites as required
- Willingness to contribute to the Academy's enrichment programme supporting the 'whole child' and / or the wider community
- Suitability to hold responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. This includes a shared responsibility for Child Protection
- Willingness to ensure that equal opportunities are promoted and developed in all areas of the Academy
- Willingness to undertake other reasonable requests as directed by the Principal
